Introduction
The company that we decided to choose and analyze is Enterprise Holdings which is a car rental company. Enterprise is known as the number 1 car rental company in the world. Enterprise was founded by Jack Taylor in 1957. He started the company with only 7 cars that he was renting to local customers. As the years went on, he noticed how much the demand for the cars were so he was able to grow his fleet size to 17 cars by 1967 and they just kept on growing from there. By 2004, Enterprise had 6,000 locations, 600,000 vehicles and 135,000 fleet management vehicles. 3 years later Enterprise acquired Alamo, and nationals, which were their biggest competitors and they rebranded themselves as Enterprise Holdings.
Enterprise is a big company that has multiple processes that vary in each branch. For the purpose of the project, we decided to pick a local branch and interview the manager and observe their process. After our visits we hope to find ways that we can help the branch improve its process with the help of Information Systems. The branch that we decided to visit is in Metuchen New Jersey. The manager that we decided to interview was the area Manager Jason Imperiale. Jason has been with the company for 11 years. Within his time with the company Jason has managed to get promoted from Management Trainee to area manager. As area manager his responsibilities are to supervise and oversee 7 branches within his area. Jason claims to love the company due to its promotion within style. He claims that everyone who is higher than him right now was once in his shoes so it makes it easier for them to understand him and communicate with him. Out of Jason's branch we decided to interview him about the branch located in Metuchen, New Jersey. This branch rents out different types of sedans, SUVs, and minivans to customers. The way it operates is by always keeping the cars on the road. This means that they try to keep as little cars in the parking lot as possible. The Metuchen branch currently manages a fleet of 150 vehicles and tends to have about anywhere from 5-10 cars on the parking lot based on demand. The branch prioritizes the sales process, and the customer service process. With their team the branch ensures that the customer service is always top notch, and they are selling and making quotas as they need too. This branch consists of 2 full time workers and 2 part time workers. This branch is one of the smaller branches within the region.
